ABOUT US

Our Philosophy

To care for the Earth as we are only passengers here for a short time. We live in a fragile system that has been balanced over millennia. The scales have now been tipped and we are fast sliding down toward the precipice. Honey Trails was started therefore to open up our property to the wider public so that they may enjoy the natural beauty on offer and hopefully strengthen their belief that we need to protect and preserve our environment.

The Honey Hill, Honey Trails Story...

Honey Hill is now Honey Hill Nature Reserve in honour of Veena Berlein 1961 - 2017. Honey Trails was co-created by Veena before her passing to offer hiking running and cycling opportunities for the public to experience the incredible natural beauty of ‘Honey Hill’ with its surrounding forested valleys which have previously been inaccessible.

The "Hill" has been left in its natural state for more than 5 decades. As such, the property is a refuge to wildlife, haven for birds, a sanctuary for wild flowers in the veld and home to some truly magnificent trees such as the Cabbage and Flatcrown.

We offer 5, 10 and 15km trails on site and hold other trail events in different locations.

Join Us On The Trails

We are now open during daylight hours every day of the week which means however that the gate is not open but you park outside the gate and from there access the trails. Presently there are no ablutions outside though but we are planning to build some soon. We can open up for groups by arrangement and have space for functions or get togethers but bear in mind the current Covid lock down rules. You access the trails entirely at your own risk.
